5 US gallons or 5 Imperial gallons for kegging

I have been making Festa Brews which creates 23 L (5 imperial gallons) of beer. I am interested in kegging, but it seems like most people use "corny" kegs which from googling are only 19L. So do people that keg just create smaller batches of beer from extract or all grain? or can you get bigger kegs?

I usually bottle a six pack when I keg a 23L batch.

Most people make 19l batches. For fest brew and kegging people usually bottle the left over.

Also, I see a kegging system start up from NG is $269. Is this reasonable or can it be done for a lot cheaper trolling Kijiji?

I use carb tabs or table sugar (1/2 tsp per bottle). Whatever I have on hand.

Wouldn't hurt to price a comparable system from OntarioBeerKegs. Patrick has pretty competitive prices and great service too.

I was able to build my keg system as a combination from Kijiji and OBK for $175.00, but I only have a single keg fridge which I bought at the end of the University season last summer for 15 bucks and I got a great deal on my C02 tank.

Another vote for OBK. And what you can't get through him, ask in the Classifieds area, or troll kijiji like you mentioned. Deals to be had!

But if you need it today, then Noble Grape is the way to go.

I picked up mine for $100 off of kijiji, minus the fridge. That was single corney, regulator, hoses, picnic tap and full 5lb CO2 tank, similar to NG's $269 system.

I try to ferment 6 US gallons so I can fill my keg, but when I do a Festa, I bottle the left overs in PET 2 liter bottles and carb with a carbonator cap.

I usually brew up enough to fill a keg 19L.....depending on the day I may have a bit left over to bottle and sometimes not. I bought my keg system through Ontario Beer Kegs. Good starter kits there and competitive prices. They actually sent a fairly new keg compared to what I have gotten from Noble Grape.
