[Help!] British Yeast

Post by jeffsmith » Thu Aug 30, 2012 7:12 am

Is there anyone traveling from Halifax past Amherst today that might be able to bring along some British yeast for me (strain doesn't matter at this point)? I pitched a starter of Wyeast 1318 into a Porter yesterday afternoon around 3:30 and I'm seeing no signs of fermentation at all yet. I may be jumping the gun a bit, but I don't want to lose this batch. Yeast options in the homebrew shops around here are pretty bleak.

Thanks! :cheers2:

I have some nottingham at home. Is that British? I'm not heading to Amherst and I'm in New Glasgow... I doubt it would survive a bus trip

Just putting that out there

I might have some in the fridge at home. Let me check at lunch. If memory serves I have 1968 (London ESB) and maybe 1098 (British Ale).

Awesome. Either would work at this point. I'm not fussy. :) going to see if I might strike it lucky and find some Windsor or Nottingham in Moncton this morning.

You around at lunch time or is this evening better?

We're headed to the zoo in Moncton this morning, but we'll be back by lunch time.

The beer has a nice thick layer of krausen on it this morning thanks to the yeast Andy donated to the cause.
