Storage in a Keg
I'm going to be leaving in October until Christmas. Can I store carbonated beer in a keg that long? I would like to have some sitting in my fridge upon my return. If not cold in the fridge, at least in a keg and ready to go in the fridge.
Thanks
Chris
Thanks

Thanks Graham,
It will more than likely be a light ale that I'll make prior to leaving.

It'll store fine so long as your sanitation is good.
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter.

I sure hope beer can keep for 3 months in a keg, I've got homebrew close to a year old on the go now.
Just beer sure all of the seals are tight, so nothing leaks while you're away.

Yeah, you don't want to have to call the Keg rescue unit inBBrianBoogie wrote:Excellent advicechalmers wrote: Just be sure all of the seals are tight, so nothing leaks

"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.
