2nd place in the Lallemand contest!

Post by Jayme » Thu Apr 19, 2012 9:33 am

Just thought I'd post my 2nd place win in the Lallemand brewing school contest! 50 free packets of yeast! It's too bad they don't package their west coast yeast in 11g packets... Looks like I'll be using a lot of Nottingham for a while.

Great Job. :cheers2:
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Great job! :headbang:
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter. :wtf:

Thanks guys! It may be a question of how many people actually entered (I never win random draws), but hell, it was definitely worth my postage!

Congrats! What are the details of the comp (style, what did you brew.. where is your recipe)?

You should see if you can't get them to give you the west coast yeast in bulk (same amount as 50 packets) instead.. 50 packets of Notthingham sounds kinda boring compared to a west coast ale yeast.

It was a draw so contest of no skill haha. I can post the recipes I brewed in order to have the empty yeast packets to send in (1 entry per empty pack)...

I did ask about the west coast ale yeast and unfortunately they won't send me just a single 500g pack instead (I may try begging) but they did say by the end of spring the west coast ale yeast will be available in 11g packs.

Actually, I think I have convinced them to send a 500g pack of the west coast. Although if they're willing, I may wait until June when they've got the 11g packs. Saves me from vacuum sealing it all up/risking contamination.
