Hey all,
Just wanted to know everyone's take on this...
I was going to add spices to the primary on my next batch....
Does it make sense to wait 4 or 5 days then add... so yeast activity doesn't drive off the spices smell.....
Or should I go ahead and toss it straight in????
Cheers

What kind of spices are you looking to put into the beer? Some spices are better off in the boil and other in the secondary.
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Sarsaparilla and star anise... I did add a little to the boil.
and i saved a little to add into the fermenter...
I wanted to have it kegged for a party on the 27th....
I didnt plan on doing a secondary...
but maybe after a week (when fermentation stops), i should do a secondary .... for a week, and then transfer the bagged spices into the keg like a dry hop??
Will it hurt just to put it in the primary???

adding to the primary after the fermentation has calmed down will be fine. Is the sarsaparilla and extract or sassafras root? If it's root then maybe make a t vodka incture with that and the anise both
