Hey guys,
Does anyone know of a trusted knife sharpener in town? I've got a 10" Victrinox slicer that I resurected from my parents kitchen drawer thats beaten up more than I can repair with my stones as there is two small chips in the edge.

DO NOT USE PRECISION!!!!
I took my knives to them, they pretty much ruined my sheffield set. It looks like they decided to put them to a steel wire wheel, rust has impregnated every single blade. He ground all of the blades, very shoddy, obviously using no rest of any sort. The guy is complete dirt in my opinion. I wouldn't let him sharpen my mower blade. It will take me hours to fix what he did to my nice knives, I will most likely have to start building a new set.
I'll sweeten it with pictures.

Holy Fuck! Glad I didn't end up going to precision!
I saw on Chowhound that a guy that used to do it privately for foodies in town now outsources to Paderno for about $10 - $15 a blade and does it by hand. I might take over one of my cheap chef knives to see what he can do and then take over my other blades that need work if i'm satisfied. I'll keep ya'll posted.

Grohmann supposedly does a good job in Pictou. If yo want to try them, I can get them down there and back for you. They even have a free sharpening event once or twice per year.

grohmann's free sharpening is only for their knives, i think. they're still quite reasonably priced, and they sometimes do it same day... my family uses them for standard sharpening and it has always been good, but my younger brother got them to put serrations onto his boat knife and they did a shitty job.

FYI:

For anybody who would like their knives transported down to Pictou and back, I can do that no problem. But it's probably best to wait until I'm off vacation as I'm on a better defined schedule then - if you need them back right away.

Wow, given the quality of their knives I can only imagine their sharpening is the same high quality. I may take you up on that offer X, and i'm in no hurry but we can work something out at a later date.

Pass this around, I wouldn't want anyone having the same thing happen to them.
