Clarified Butter.

Anyone have experience making clarified butter? I followed the instructions from a few videos, but it didn't turn out very clear (much like my beer! :P ) I skimmed a lot of foam off the top, but didn't get a lot of solids in the pot. My instinct is to put it back in the pot and simmer some more, hopefully without turning it into ghee (though that wouldn't be bad, just not for this purpose).

Thoughts?

Hmmm... not a good idea to put it back on the stove. Without the milk solids it browned pretty quickly despite my best attempts to stir. The smell of toffee is in the air.....

It can be done in the microwave in a transparent measuring cup.

I'll try to do a test batch tomorrow. If I recall correctly you can just melt the butter. The water and milk solids will sink to the bottom as it cools.

I'd probably buy it if I could, but it's hard enough just to find non-salted butter around here. Even though it got a little brown in the pot, it still cleared up okay. Not bad for my 1st go.
