Let me start by saying I have absolutely no welding/steel fab skills... but I'd want a fire box off to the side & maybe leave it so you can still use it as a charcoal grill too. How to do that, no idea...

Sweet deal, and I actually have the spare money kicking around to blow on something like that right nowNASH wrote:http://halifax.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-sell ... Z304500779
Jump on it Jimmy, or Xman, or JohnnyMac! Or I might have to!
Its a large Big Green Egg for $600, says its hardly used.
Well I'm glad one of us grabbed it. Welcome to the ceramic brotherhood!Keggermeister wrote:I went out tonight and sealed the deal. $550! It needs a gasket set for the lid, and a BGE cover. It has a CTC crappy cover on it now. Comes with the rake, grate lifter and extended grill with fold in legs. Anyone around on Saturday morning in the sprytown area to help me put it on the trailer?
Actually Nick i just remembered that the spare boiler gasket I had for the BGE went to JohnnyMac when I sold it to him, but it's a spare since it had a like new felt gasket on it. Sooooo we could borrow you his and order him a new one. It's about $7 I thinkNASH wrote:Well I'm glad one of us grabbed it. I don't use a cover on them but some folks prefer one. For me they are basically useless, pain in the ass to use since I use the grill daily and they take hrs and hrs to cool down... and ceramic doesn't rust, and if it did I'm not sure a cover holding in all the moisture would slow it or speed it.![]()

As for gasket replacement I highly recommend NOT buying another BGE felt gasket![]()

Here's some pics of my Primo when I replaced the gasket, it's a Cotronics boiler gasket applied with Ultra Copper silicone which is pretty much the best solution out there so you're not frying gaskets on high-temp cooks. I can order you in a gasket but it'll take around 2 weeks likely.![]()
NP. I'll let you knowmr x wrote:If you're ordering them, you might as well order me a set for the XL. They're approaching the end of the line...
Congrats. Like x said, I'll be at the grain pickup for 9, or else I'd help you out. SorryKeggermeister wrote:I went out tonight and sealed the deal. $550! Tim, thats exactly the one I bought this spring. Its my first one and so far its been a great little rig to learn on. If I get 2 or 3 years out of it, I'll be happy & upgrade. I may have to make the access to the firebox a little bigger & I have thought about adjustable airvents.Tim Gregory wrote:Hey guys,
Question from a guy who knows little to nothing about smoking, but might want to get into it, is this a good starter smoker?
