Just put on some bacon wrapped chicken breasts. I have ribs for tomorrow, and a roast for Monday.

Great January day for it. I can imagine you outside cooking, maybe with a pint.
Bon appetite!

There's not very often that you would cook outdoors without a pint or twb.GuingesRock wrote:Great January day for it. I can imagine you outside cooking, maybe with a pint.

What are the accessorys that I should look for the Kamado? I have gloves, Map torch and charcoal (need to find a charcoal bucket).
I have been Googling and can't find good advice.

Something to use as a heat deflector (I use kamado Joe heat deflector and / or a couple of fire bricks. A drip pan of some sort as well. I use disposable foil pizza pans from dollar store.

The top gasket is coming off. Can I glue it or should I just replace it?

Talk to Nash. He may have a solution for ya. My heat deflector is an old keg top. Hard to describe. I can take pictures sometime if it. Super cheap and works very well. I use a cheap pizza stone to go with it. Leaves about 1/2" all the way around the outside.

You'd be wise to replace it with a ceramic boiler gasket and high heat copper silicone. I think I have one gasket set left.

I will take it and buy you a new one or just buy it.
The "high heat copper silicone", is that CDN tire or another supplier?

Permatex makes the most commonly used stuff. It's at CT, but not always the small ones.

Crap tire, automotive counter, grab a caulking tube full of it 'cause you're going to lay it on thick!

You have the receipt. Can you complain to CT and let them deal with it?

I have had a couple of "FIRES" in it and I think it's a user issue, but thanks. It is a nice machine.

The gaskets melt off all these cookers if you use them, sooner or later. I recommend immediately tearing the gasket off and replacing it with some good stuff before first use.GuingesRock wrote:You have the receipt. Can you complain to CT and let them deal with it?

FYI for those interested (like myself), both HRM Costco's will be getting 8 "Kamado ceramic charcoal grills" within the next week or so. Their computer didn't show a name brand, but it's likely the Vision. Price will be $599. I'll be anxiously watching for them to arrive so I can pick one up before they sell out...
Michael.
