I would suggest against pre-cutting for folks that you aren't sure of lengths. The whole benefit of the long pieces is that, with correct lengths cut, an extra grill or two may be extracted. So hold your horses!

In short;
Scrape
clean (goo be gone)
roughen (Emery cloth)
high temp calk (you wallet may have a hard time with that one, split it with another user)
wax paper to separate and close to cure for 24 hours.
So easy I did it.
