Chinese Food Recipes
I've never made Wonton Soup before but am planning on making it soon. Does anyone have any other authentic Chinese food recipes that they could share? A main dish that could go with the Wonton Soup would be great. TIA.

Re: Chinese Food Recipes
My wife is Chinese and I can ask her. Authentic Chinese food is nothing like the the Chinese food here in North America though, it has been adapted to our taste for sweet and more meat. Of the many time I've been to China I don't think I ever had wonton soup actually. Let me ask her Shane and I'll let you know.

LOL, I'm an idiot. According to my wife she just made theses for us about a month ago. She calls them something different though so I didn't know it's what we call "wonton". Shane, she will write up a recipe if you want. This is right out of Northern China, can't get more authentic than that.

That's awesome, thanks Andy!! Yeah, I'm definitely interested in some actual authentic Chinese food recipes and not the north american style take out stuff here. Whatever recipes she would like to share (even for wonton soup) I'd appreciate it!Araxi wrote:My wife is Chinese and I can ask her. Re: Chinese Food Recipes
Sure guys, give me a few days for her to come up with a few for you. Btw, HappyHopper she has an amazing rib recipe she makes for us often that is super awesome. Beijing is a cool city. On our last trip to China we stayed at our favorite little hotel in the Hutong on our way back to Canada and we were amazed at how much it had changed in just 2 years. There we a number of little pubs that brewed on premises and I had a long chat with a young guy that was opening a little brew pub as well. Seems there is a thriving home brew community there with both locals and expats involved as I saw their poster in one of the pubs there.

Re: Chinese Food Recipes
I don't know of any good recipes but if you like real Chinese food Dim Sum rocks. My wife got me into it & it's Chinese brunch for those not familiar. Allot of shrimp/pork dumplings and bbq pork buns. My wife and I hit the Great Wall in Halifax from time to time. They serve it every Sunday from 1130-1500 hrs. I guess that's the lazy answer as I don't make it. It looks too labour intensive. ha ha They have chicken feet and tripe (stomach lining) for the adventerous!
