New in C-town
Hello all. New to PEI and Canada (well I have been here a year or so) and just found this site. Long time beer drinker with thoughts of brewing my own for years but just decided to make it a reality. Have checked one Island home brew store and found it to be all kits and no equipment, are they all like that here or is there a go to place for islanders? Will be in Halifax tomorrow so I might get a starter kit down there. Big fan of Gahan and Pump House's IPA.

We have been ordering a lot of gear from various sources around the continent.
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter.

"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Welcome from a fellow Islander, Island Brew Shops seem to be lacking for sure. Seems like Noble Grape might be the easiest and most reasonably priced "locally" for equipment. For grains and hops check out Noble Grape and Everwood Ave Brewshop both in Halifax area. I just placed an order for some grain from Dave at Everwood Ave and I found prices and shipping from there to be the best to the island from everywhere I checked.

Welcome! Check out the Events tab for more PEI-centric info and events. Speaking of which, I'll be visiting your fair island in 2 weeks, and am happy to transport over anything from Everwood, Noble Grape, Premier Wines, etc. And I believe the plan is to organize the monthly meeting to fall on the 16th or so. Hope to meet up then!
