Hey from Kentville

Post by Sledhead » Wed Jun 20, 2012 10:04 am

Finally signed up after enjoying the site for a while. I'm a Festa brewer in Kentville, with an eye toward all grain in the next year or so. I have been brewing from kits for about three years. I bottled the first batch and then quickly got set up on kegs. Paul

"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

No events planned as of yet, but I see no reason not to plan some!! HpHunter and myself are planning a brew day together in the future I'm sure that he wouldn't mind someone else coming along to help, and ,or maybe just getting together some night for beers.

Welcome! When the weather is consistently nice, I'm sure a bunch of us city-folk would love to make a visit to the valley, either to the Port Pub, or to someone's place who might be willing to host (or both). A tasting, brewday, or something else.

I would love to have a brew day get together at my place, will be in month or so. We could make 500L batch or so and split it up! Corn boil maybe? I smell a party coming on.

Welcome indeed. Looks like a valley chapter is in its infancy.
