Hello,

My name is Craig. I'm a newfie living here in Halifax, NS right now. I have been interested in homebrew for a long time, but haven't gotten into it. I made it my New Years resolution to get into this year and have been trying to read as much information as I can. I have yet to do my first batch and am actually looking for a place to get a good starter kit. Any info on that would be much appreciated.

Noble Grape for a new starter kit, or kijiji for some used gear.
A Festa-Brew kit is a good way to ease into the hobby - you'll get good beer at the end. If you have bigger goals (you will), see if you can sit in on a brew session with someone.

In terms of brewing type I was thinking of starting with festa kits so I can understand the jist of what it is I'll be doing, then eventually jump into all grain. This seems to be a natural way to go about the process, however, I am also sometimes overly ambitious and have been thinking of jumping into all grain immediately haha. But I think the festa brews are going to win out.

So I'll check out noble grape, kijiji, and craigslist and get my starter together. Hoping to start my first batch within the month.

I also suggest you try a festa kit for starters... you'll learn about the rest of the things you need to know without having to worry about getting the recipe right.

Deed I is. From Heart's Delight, but living in the Pearl now. I got a cousin teaching French immersion in Marystown.

Yep, Festa is the way to go to get some basic fermentation skills down. Read this on line book http://www.howtobrew.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for a lot of the basic info.
