Hey Everyone!

Post by Jennifer » Sun May 24, 2020 7:20 pm

Hello!

I'm kinda new to brewing. I watched my husband brew at home for the two years before he passed and I have unfortunately finished the last beer from his last brew.

I'd like to learn how to brew at home, to not only be able to afford to drink but to make him proud by carrying on our favorite past time.

I have the basic equipment from the brew kits but don't really know where to go from there, so I'm hoping to learn here!

Thanks!

Welcome!

Do you have a good book to get you going? I started with How to Brew by John Palmer, it's an excellent book and there's a free online version as well. http://www.howtobrew.com/

+1 for How to brew, its the best intro to brewing book. I still refer to it sometimes.

:welcome:
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.
