Hello From Charlottetown
Hi folks! Figured I should make a post and introduce myself. I'm Jon from Charlottetown. I used to homebrew a lot 5 or 6 years ago, but I took a break from it. I recently moved back to PEI from Ontario and one of my coworkers really wanted to try making beer, so I decided to get back in the game.
I was looking around the homebrew stores here for hops and grains, which it turns out are impossible to find in Charlottetown, when I met Devin at the Winekitz in Charlottetown and he recommended I check this forum out. I'm really glad he did!
I'm hoping to get out to an Aleanders meeting or two, meet some of you folks, and perhaps make it out to meet some of the brewnosers folks in Halifax sometime.

Great to see more Islanders on the board. I'm a PEI ex-pat myself.

Good to see more growth outside of HRM.

At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter.

And another one comes into the fold... mwahaha
You might be thinking of Devin from WineKitz... but maybe there's a Derek there too?
In terms of all-grain brewers on PEI, there aren't many of us (6?). Wortly and I typically brew 44L batches together. We usually have a decent supply of grains/hops so let us know if need something and we can work out a trade (if we can spare it).
In any case, welcome!

Thats it! Devin. I knew Derek didn't sound right, thats why I put the preemptive apology in my message.hogie wrote: You might be thinking of Devin from WineKitz... but maybe there's a Derek there too?

As of right now, I've only ever brewed "Extract and Specialty Grain Beer", the stuff from Chapter 2 of the John Palmer book. Play with different hops, steep some different grains, but I've always wanted to try an all grain. Getting all the equipment together and giving the a try is something I want to do fairly soon. I'm planning a road trip over to the Nobel grape in Halifax to get some supplies that I can't find on the Island, but I'm hoping in the future I might be able to get in on some of the group buys to stay supplied.

If you come across anything odd you can't get there, give us a heads up. I for one have some excess stuff from the NCM buys that I can move. I'm sure some others may be in the same boat.

Re: Hello From Charlottetown
Welcome! My bio may say Halifax, but I'm really an Islander. I'm just being forced away so I can develop knowledge and experience. I will be back & hopefully one of the times I'm back coincides with a tasting.
Brewing right now: whatever is going on tap at Stillwell in a few weeks.
