well the neighbors that complained about even the faintest odor of patio cooking left, so propane could be an option again (I have a MASSIVE patio... uncovered) but I'm concerned about fuel cost and whether I'll actually get off my ass and brew if it requires going outside in the winter (especially if this winter is like last winter...)

A propane tanks should last for 4-5 brew days for 5 gallon batches I would think, depending on the burner you get. Costco is likely the cheapest place for refills, if you're a member.

Well, today I bottle my munton 's red ale kit and start brewing my everwood German wheat extract kit (real hops instead of pre hopped tinned LME!)

I'll probably do some more advanced extract kits (with specialty grains, dry hopping, etc) but it may be a while before I have the budget/experience to make the jump to all grain

edit: even doing the extract kit from everwood ave (with like 3.5 gallons in the pot to boil) was pathetic and painful on my shitty electric stove... May have to switch to festa brew until I get either a propane burner or some dedicated electric brew kettle rig...
