So I am sitting here drinking a fin du monde and I starting thinking. I know the difference between a Belgium dubbel and tripel, but whats the difference between them and a Belgium strong ale? Allaboutbeer.com provided no real help in the matter, in fact they listed la fin as a Stong ale and not a tripel as I had thought. Anyways maybe I have had too much of this bottle to myself but I figured I am new here and someone could probably enlighten me. I also apologize if this is in the wrong area of the forum.

Keep in mind that the brewer can call their beer whatever they want (think Mr. Keith's IPA). Belgian Strong Ale encompasses both Dubbels and Tripels, so what you've been reading is not wrong. You can go right to the source here.

Thank you for that link. I had no idea that page existed, that helps sort some things out immensely. I know a brewer can use any label but I was just looking for something a little more standard to use in my own notes so I don't end up overly confused when I look back in times to come.
