Tatamagouche Lagered Ale at the NSLC

So Tatabrew now has their Lagered Ale at the NSLC. It's good but I would have rather seen their Butcher Block Red, Horns over Hooves, or Parti-Gyle Stout on the shelves instead. But more importanly...check out that price tag! I think that might make this the most expensive beer per ml in NS! Also, who says "this beer tastes bright"?

Bright is a descriptor I would be happy to have on my lagers and IPAs.

Yeah, that's even more expensive than Rare Bird, and $3 more than a four-pack of Spindrift.

This is why big breweries are buying small breweries and keeping the product lines going. "Craft Beer" is pricing themselves out of the market. I bet that six pack of goose Island IPA below it is a better deal?

I did a LOL at the price last week too. Compare that to Spindrift's damn fine actual lager which is much cheaper.

I find there's a growing trend of breweries making a common beer and pricing it like a "special" beer like a big RIS, IIPA, Belgians, etc. Same with the growler prices at Harvest / Rockhead /Crystall.

The NSLC also bumped up the price of Boxing Rock's DIPA to $6.49 from $5.75 (a 12.8% bump) for no apparent reason. Like beer isn't already expensive enough around here. I can't wait start brewing some kick ass all grain shit and get away from these gougers.

Don't forget they are certified organic, which puts their prices up considerably.

I personally do not like the lagered ale, and agree that the horns over hooves or butcher block be sold in the NSLC. At that price though, I will stick with my old faithfuls

Are Spindrift's cans 473ml or 500ml?

473ml according to the lc website.

I personally have stopped buying beer at the lc except for special releases and such. I tend to spend my money on favourites like Aphrodisiac or growler fills directly from breweries when I want value. To put things into perspective, 5 cans of Lagered Ale is the same price as a gallon of beer from Paddy's.

P.S. Nobody tell Paddy's how cheap their growlers are.

$4.25 each per can for the equivalent of a growler. Plus organic and lagered(if that's true). Not too far off, if it's a quality beer. That's been the issue for me.

Yea, that is kind of pricey. I have noticed here in Ontario Craft beer prices are getting higher and higher all the time. 2 classes of beer. Mega shit or Craft beer. The price difference is very noticeable. There is always my homebrew.
