NYC Craft Breweries or Beer Bars?

Post by jacinthebox » Wed Sep 23, 2015 9:09 am

Hey folks,
Heading to NYC tomorrow til sunday. Staying in Midtown Manhattan ( W38th between 5th&6th).

Any must visit places, brewery tours, or beer to try? Does Ruckus do tours?

I tried to book a Brooklyn Brewery Small Batch tour but they are sold out until Oct 21st.

Thanks in advance

this should give you some ideas

"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

I had a few good local brews...but not easy to find for sure.
Black Iron had a few good brews on tap...some from NY, some from near by states.

I ended up grabbing some beer from "Beer Table" at Grand Central Station, to bring home.
