The Spitfire Arms pub in Windsor heavily damaged by fire

A fire early Tuesday morning caused significant damage to a popular Windsor pub.

Windsor firefighters were called to The Spitfire Arms shortly after 2 a.m. after flames and smoke were spotted coming from the roof of the Water Street building.

Fire chief Scott Burgess said that the fire appears to have started on the first floor and spread upward throught an exhaust vent. Flames were coming from the vent when firefighters arrived.

Crews pulled down ceilings on the first and second floor of the business making sure the fire hadn’t spread, while firefighters on two aerial trucks were above the building as smoke puffed from the walls and roof.

At one point water was sprayed down the narrow gap between the pub and a neighbouring building when smoke was seen coming through the brick wall.

Burgess said there were no injuries.

Firefighters from Brooklyn to New Minas were still on the scene at 5:30 a.m.

The cause has not been determined.

Oh how terrible. I could use those beer taps though.
Currently on tap:
1) Festa Brown Ale
2) Festa Pale Ale
3) Best Case Northern Lights
4) Festa Continental Pilsner

In the bucket: Empty
In the carboy: Empty

Buy yourself a 24 and you'll be happy for a weekend. Teach yourself to homebrew and you'll be happy for a lifetime. :)

Re-opening March 12.
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter. :wtf:

I'll have to check it out. My family lives up that way...

I went in to the spitfire quite a few times back in my early (earlier?) adulthood since I grew up nearby. Wasn't much of a drinker at all back then and certainly not of beer so I would usually go in for a fishburger and a strongbow while on lunch break from the tourist bureau (my summer job back then)
