X's first pic looks like an only-slightly-modified version of my friend Dan's Xtracycle. By amazing coincidence, one of the frames they sell is called the Big Dummy and is manufactured by Surly.

Somehow, I can't see the Beer Cycle replacing Harbour Hoppers in Halifax any time in the next century.
