Favorite Commercial Beers?
I tried Lunch and Detour. I liked them both, they tasted similar and I think that is centennial hops? also had some Belgian beers in Stillwells that I liked (a dubbel and a tripel). Not much experience with drinking commercial craft beers otherwise, apart from local brewery beers.
Are there any beers that really must be tried?

Heady topper was great, however Stone's Enjoy By I personally enjoyed much more. Probably hands down my favourite beer to date.

I'm not a big bitterness fan but I really enjoy Ninkasi Tricerahops double IPA and Four Winds IPA and APA if you ever get to Vancouver. I quite enjoy Tripel Karmeliet too speaking of Tripels

I'm not big on bitterness, so I'm really loving Red Racer's ESB. It's big on hop aromatics without the bitterness. You can get it at Bishop's Cellar and Premiere.

Re: Favorite Commercial Beers?
Have several go to classics:
Belgians:
Orval
Westmalle dubbel and tripel
Duvel
Chimay blue and red
Rochefort 8 & 10
Rodenbach gran cru
Saison dupoint
Duchesse de Bourgogne
Piraat
Westvleteren are great but very hard to get
Most lambics and guezes, but Cantillion is in a different league
Other good and widely available beers:
Pilsner Urquell, great pilsner
Anchor steam ale, classic steam beer
Fullers ESB, great on cask, decent in bottle but crap in a can, same goes for their porter.
Not a big fan of the german wheats and bocks, but Weihenstephaner and Franziskaner make good examples of those styles.
Forgot some more local samples:
I agree that Detour is a nice lighter beer, full of flavour
Red racer IPA is a very solid IPA, and pretty cheap at the ANBL
Lot of great IPAs from the states, but harder to get here, lunch is definitely one of those.

Unfortunately never had the opportunity to try Heady Topper or Pliny The Elder, however I agree with Keith regarding Enjoy By......even though they are all different. In the states and to keep the list short:Keith wrote:Heady topper was great, however Stone's Enjoy By I personally enjoyed much more. Probably hands down my favourite beer to date.
West Coast: Arrogant Bastard by Stone (or anything by Stone)
Mid-West: Alpha King by 3 Floyd's (or anything by 3 Floyd's)
East Coast: Lunch by Maine Beer Company (or anything from MBC)
Honorable mention to Founder Breakfast Stout (Grand Rapids but available east) and Brew Dog outside the US.

"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.
