Greetings fellow beer lovers,

I am new to the valley coming from Ontario. I've been here a couple weeks and now in need of finding a good place to buy brew supplies. I'm situated in the Greenwood/Kingston area. Looking for some help in locating a place for all my supplies or even a couple places where I can mix an match!

Also, what are prices like here? Back home, I know supplies were wallet destroying (ie a 6gal pail was $40 w/o lid, kegs were $75 used, etc). Is there anywhere reasonable?

Any and all help is appreciated guys!

Also, looking for a good start of fall beer. Not to heavy or light, maybe a lager? Thoughts? Recipes?

for kegs you are in luck, look in the classifieds section, somebody in the valley had them used for $60 each or 2 for $100

Check the Classified's. If someone from the group is selling, they will post it there, or if we stumble on anything on Kijiji we will typically post it.
As for Supplies, check with Dave @ EverwoodAvebrewshop. He's somewhat local to you, but shipping isn't that bad.
As for recipes, check out the recipe database, not much in there right now, but if you see something you like, speak up.

Welcome! Noble Grape in Coldbrook has a decent selection and reasonable prices. We are Valley folk too...we live in Cambridge.

I actually made a trip into Coldbrook with the wife today and she showed me Noble Grape. Granted there was more wine than beer but I still got a few items for a really nice price.

Brewing Mongrove Jack Pale Ale with 1/2 lbs of 2row for some body and an apple cider for the wife.

Glad to be brewing again!

Did you see the room in the back left corner? I missed it at first too, but that's where all the grain, hops, yeast are kept. Not sure if you're an all-grain or an extract brewer, but either way, handy to know where that stuff is. The ciders are pretty good, but we made the mistake of leaving it on the yeast a bit too long. It then took awhile to get cleared up and drop the yeasty taste. If you have kegging gear now, I think the cider would be best force-carbed.

Also, the Noble Grape folks will put together recipes/kits for just about anything you want too...so if you're not seeing what you want on the shelf, just ask! I'm pretty sure Dave at Everwood will do the same thing -- help build kits if you're not seeing exactly what you want.

Yup, I don't even need a recipe, just tell me a style or clone and I'll find it and make it for you.

Thanks for the info. Something to keep in mind. As for kegging equipment, well I'm shopping around but it's so friggin expensive. Just a kegerator and keg is a lot of cash. So I'm thinking just get a keg/CO2 tank/filter/ and bliechman gun and bottle like that for now and maybe a party tape for the keg.

Unless you know someone willing to part with their gear at a cheap price!!!

Keep an eye on kijiji and on the Classifieds section on here. Maybe post a want ad on kijiji. Sometimes deals come up, but usually things move quickly!

Hi, welcome!

I like the keg and Blichmann Gun combo idea, and the picnic tap for parties.

If you are getting just 1 keg, I'd recommend getting a good quality (maybe Italian made) new one. Save you having frustrations and trouble. Also don't forget Noble Grape and Everwood have a discount for Brewnosers.
