Rick Perkins is a dick
Saw him on the CBC this evening, rambling on about 'social responsibility'. Jesus fucking christ almighty, if he's worried about society, maybe he should be working somewhere else. This province is the worst pile of shit, blah blah blah blah.....

Yeah but on a good note we make some fucking great homebrew

"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Jason, that Rick Perkins had dick written all over him. I felt slimy just looking at the site.
This Dick Perkins is a hoot: http://es-es.facebook.com/topic.php?uid ... 9&topic=51" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (for the life of me I can't figure out what it's doing on a Spanish facebook page, but then I'm a dinosaur who doesn't understand Facebook).
And Dick: sure NS pricing is "in the middle of the pack" - when you consider how much it costs to get anything shipped to Yukon, NWT and Nunavut.

I don't know if it's available online, but he did an interview on the CBC news regarding some of the wineries (the Nova 7 people, etc.) rightfully complaining about the idiotic shipping laws. I swear to god, he makes you want to pick up a gun - this gun:

Is it really? Let's put it to plebiscite and see...Currently, people outside Nova Scotia who want to order wine from the province must do so through the liquor board or agency in their province.
It seems the Nova Scotia Liquor Corp. doesn't like the idea of loosening the regulations.
"Why don't I support it? Because it isn't milk and cookies that's being sold here. This is a restricted product and it has an impact on society, on those who abuse it. That's the public policy choice we've made in this country," said spokesman Rick Perkins.

I believe it's going to be on maritime noon in a few minutes.

Ah. So it really is about prohibition. Proof enough that he's wrong that it's the "country's" choice - because both Alberta and Ontario have said it's not about public policy, it's about protecting their revenues. If a national choice was made, it was to adopt a Constitution that guarantees a free movement of goods between provinces."Why don't I support it? Because it isn't milk and cookies that's being sold here. This is a restricted product and it has an impact on society, on those who abuse it. That's the public policy choice we've made in this country," said spokesman Rick Perkins.

Lest one were to suspect from this thread that NS has s F**ked up system, consider Tennessee (Points 7 and down).
I love: "In fact, we are required to separate all high and low-alc beer in our warehouse with a fence ... Apparently, the big and little beer tend to fight at night or cross pollinate when no one’s watching"
This is just the latest in a string of posts on BeerNews relating to a law change to allow Sierra Nevada to establish a brewery in Tennessee - a brewery they haven't even committed to opening, yet.
