We are bringing down some more barrels from CB in a week or two for our strong dark. If Brewnosers are in need of a barrel or two we can share the cost on the shipping if you're interested. Last year the barrels were 100+hst + shipping. Msg or reply if this interests anyone.

Well we'd like to get them as soon as they're drained, which may be next week or the week after. I'll follow up with the distillery and let you know if they have a fixed date yet. When I spoke to them last week they were just getting back from their winter vacation.

Having only ever had commercial barrel aged thus would be sonething I'd like to get in on.

I'd be in for this. A BA DIPA would be awesome. We have any of that Conan kicking around? haha.

I would be in for another barrel project! Any of the interested parties able to store the barrel? My 3rd floor, 2 bdrm apt does not seem to be a viable option.

Does there need to be a consistent temperature? If not I could talk my neighbor into using his garage. I'm sure he'd be ok knowing he'd be drinking it off Stanley eventually.

It's preferred, and you don't want it to get too hot, so I'd suggest against the garage.

These barrels can hold ~200 litres, and should be filled as much as possible, so we're going to need several more folks to chime on here. And we should talk about recipe specifics.

I'd probably be in. Something around 8% and not a hoppy beer would be my style suggestion. Otherwise I'm game for whatever.

I like the idea of having extra, for the angel share, and/or can be distributed to participants in bottles sans-wood to do comparisons.

My vote is also for something like a Belgian Quad or Robust Porter, and maybe the second round would be something funky.

Does anyone know the dimensions of these barrels? I'm worried about fitting it through my basement door. If it would fit, I might be able to store it.

I'll get in on this. Judging by the amount of the last barrel beer I still have left I'd be willing to split a batch if there's a lot of interest.

Ill post dimensions tomorrow, still have one at the shop.

How many litres can the barrel hold? I know Sandy suggested 200L - is that confirmed?

As for beer style - perhaps we could set up a poll of the styles mentioned?

So if we move forward how does this work? Do we all just brew, ferment, then drop of our carboys?

I think we were getting around 190 L back out of it. Bit of loss at the bottom because of how I had the sample valve setup. I would suggest installing a 1/2' hose barb and valve for racking later.

Barrels were drained yesterday, hoping to have them via armour early next week. The barrel is 100+tax, the shipping will add around $20 to it. Do you guys have a way to pool your money or does one person want to buy it and you can split it up after? I'd need some sort of payment first of the week before I add one to the order for you. Ill have to print you an invoice from the brewery to show the tax etc.

Also, didnt measure the barrel yet but it fit in through our store door fine, which is a standard 32" door I believe.

I can handel the purchase but not the transport or storage.

Did you guys figure out what you are doing for storage of your barrel? I have an air conditioned house and a utility room that might fit the barrel. It stays under 19 degrees in there and I have a space heater if it gets too cold. You could store your barrel there if it wouldn't be too stinky.
