Back from Indianapolis with some good beer!

Post by GillettBreweryCnslt » Tue Apr 08, 2014 5:44 pm

So aside form being detained in Customs for over an hour on the way there (cause I'm "taking away jobs from hard working americans" - yes, that's what the customs guy said as he sent me to the detention center), and missing three flights because of it, it was a successful beer trip. Here's what I brought back:

From left to right:
Fat Head Hunter IPA: Rate Beer, Beer Advocate,
Daredevil Lift Off IPA: Rate Beer, Beer Advocate
3 Floyds Arctic Panzer Wolf: Rate Beer, Beer Advocate
Bell's Two Hearted Ale: Rate Beer, Beer Advocate
3 Floyds Alpha King: Rate Beer, Beer Advocate

I've had the Fat Head Hunter IPA on tap last night and it was great, definitely worth the high rating, really aromatic, citrusy, floral, and a good balance but no hiding the hops.

Contrary to the Daredevil Lift Off reviews I thought it was a great beer too, a good west coast style IPA with a good nose and malt backbone. The hops aren't as pronounced as the Fat Head, but it was still delicious.

I was disappointing with the two hearted ale, it was a pale ale with a lot of bitterness but no hop aroma or malt to balance it. Still good, but not great.

I haven't tried to 3 Floyds brews yet, but I'm not too worried I made a bad choice there.

Great haul... as for the jobs being taken away from the hard working americans. May want to look at the large corps on buying from China and moving all their call centers to india. I have to travel to the states for work every now and then, it's highly frustrating.

There's no way I could ever travel to the US. One episode of that and I'd be in jail in 60 seconds hahahahhaaha.

I've always loved 2 Hearted any time I've had it. Made the clone two or three times as well.

Sorry, how are you taking away jobs from hard working Americans? Is this something to do with your 'real job' or the store? Because it it's the latter, you're facilitating access to a lot of American made products here in Canada through Everwood: the exact opposite of the claim.

Also: Two Hearted is good. Especially on tap. (I miss Michigan.)

I only travel for my 9-5 job so it had everything to do with that. The short story is that I was traveling to provide training and a sales presentation to a USGS office that has bought some gear from my company (Satlantic) and wants to buy more. The rub is that apparently, in order to provide training I need that training to be on the bill of sale. I was very polite and respectful as we discussed this in detail at the booth but this guy was dead set against reason at this point. The training is a free service we provide when you spend 10's of thousands of dollars with us, it's not on any paperwork at all. Regardless, his supervisor in the detention centre understood this and let me go after just the basic 3-5 questions, it just took over an hour for my file to hit the front of the line. The dude at the primary screening was just having a shit day and was taking it out on everyone else IMO.

A couple of years ago I was headed to Atlanta for a course and I was going through customs in Toronto. The customs guy grilled me about the details of the course. He kept asking me if I was going to try to find a job down there. When I told him that I have a job here and that I wouldn't want to work in the US he got super offended. "Well why wouldn't you want to live in the US?" What a fucking dick. Still pissed about that.
