I'm gonna start this new thread for last goodbyes, comments, critiques, old pics, etc...
Sad to see Bruce have to lock it up. Greg and Bruce were always good to us down there. Can't help but wonder if the O'Carrolls saga drug on too long....

Hart & Thistle is now permanently closed for business

Seriously?

I guess we should have, indeed. I don't think it's the space for Unfiltered though!

I believe it's a case of revenue not equal to or greater than cost of doing business

What did we get, about 4.5 years? Earliest record I have from the listserve was May 25th, 2009, and that was just the construction phase.

It opened in June 09, first beers launched in August.

Fuck. That blows!
I did have the honor of the Commissar though. Think we can fit that gear on Nomad?

Would it make financial sense for the RB to open at lunch again right away and pick up floating customers who used to go to the Heart and Thistle for lunch. A lot of them would be looking for your beer. I’m missing the RB lunch times when I come to Halifax.

Sad. What's to become of the brew house? How big is that system anyway?

Don't suppose you could get some backing or parters and take it over Greg?

Possibly a seasonal action? I know getting the brewhouse out of there would cost about as much as it's worth.

I do not doubt this is the main driver for the decision but it is the timing that confuses me, why close down in mid-Feb when the seasonally business is only a few months away? If the bottom line is in the red in the winter months, why not close down in October as you would have 4 years of fiscal data to make that call? And why order growlers with your logo on them, if you are going to close down before the growlers even arrive (perhaps they were never ordered like I was told)?
I obviously have a lot of questions, my gut feeling is that there is more to this than just costs vs revenues.

I was wondering about this, too... they just tweeted four days ago that the growlers had arrived.

Collectable growler, anyone? Or maybe they'll try to sell the business.

Disconnect between ownership and management?
