HFX Sports Bar

HFX Sports Bar and Grill have posted their food & drink menus. Prepare to be excited.. 33 taps!
....and now the letdown. All but 2 (Propeller Pilsner & Garrison Red) are macro! Finally! I was thinking that the beer selection at bars was starting to progress a little too much. It's about time someone bucked the trend and went back to Macro Lager domination. PBR on tap FTW!
Craft beer @ $7/bottle.

I thought a signature dish was one that people would say " oh you mean so and so s what ever" why do they have like 30 signature dishes?

It's embarrassing that they sell 1 bottle of local product at half the cost of a 6 pack. I'm not surprised though, like all the banners around the sports stadiums (and even the stadium names) everything is run by major players.

lmfao, what did anybody expect.
It's sad that management equate 'sports bar' with customers who want crap beer. There's a couple others on there that are ok - always liked Leffe, and didn't realize Keith's was still making Hoegaarden. But overall really really bland and uninspiring.

Just looks like another Boston Pizza style joint, shitty over priced food to go along with shitty over priced beer, 6 bucks for a bottle of Bud Light.....holy sweet fack. Is the location the only hook this new place has, going for a piece of the Metro Centre crowd? If that is the market plan, they should have just opened a Hooters.....at least Hooters does not bullshit what they are.

I'm surprised someone would open an establishment that intends to serve a lot of beer, and not consult some knowledgeable beer enthusiasts to help put together a proper tap list. Because geez, where would you find such people?
With 33 taps, that is more than enough space to cover all your bases. Even if you said you'd serve 50% macros & imports, 25% pseudo-craft (Creemore, Moosehead Boundary, etc.), you've still got 8 taps left for other local craft...say Garrison Tall Ship and Raspberry Wheat and Propeller Pilsener as mainstays, and 5 rotating taps to appeal to the enthusiasts.

There are no doubt backdoor deals that put the macros in there enmasse.

Sorry, no space.....they need to have 19 taps for lagers. Anyone else notice that Rolling Rock and Coors is priced at $8.25, which seems like the going rate for a "premium" lager (same price as Stella, Heineken, etc)? I understand that marketing can sell the first beer, but it is shocking to me that someone would order a second Rolling Rock or Coors at that price after gagging down the first pint.

I heard a rumor last night that this new Halifax Sports Bar will try and mimic the Toronto Real Sports Bar (
http://www.realsports.ca" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;), which is just outside the ACC and is a heavy Toronto Maple Leafs hang-out. During a weekend Toronto trip, I was dragged to this place last year by a few local Maple Leaf fans to watch BOS vs TO on a Saturday night, it was a god awful experience. It was two floors with the second floor over looking the main bar, which must have had a 50ft TV behind it with the sound turned on high, the place was completely packed, the food was shit and overpriced, all 50+ taps were all macro, had to yell at the servers to order and every douchebag in the joint was wear blue and white.
The experience still gives me the heeb's, from the look of the Real Sports Bar beverage menu and the Halifax menu, I am guessing this may be exactly the style of bar we can look forward to....happy, happy, joy, joy.

Considering all the money they will be paying out to get in the sports packages, plus the techno costs, plus electricity, I can see why beer prices will be high. Probably priced themselves out of the craft market with the overhead of all that stuff.

Maybe an entrepreneuring Brewnoser should start a craft-focused sports bar. I lack sports knowledge and capital, otherwise I'd probably do it myself.

The sports bars here in SJ aren't any better. Crap food served with crap beer. At least this new place in HFX gives you over 30 taps of crap to choose from!
The only sports bar that I've been too that served craft beer (they brewed their own) was in Denver. LOVED that place, just wish I could remember the name of it!
