Re: White IPA!
You've probably tried it (if not, you can pick up a bottle at Premier), but Lagunitas' Little Sumptin Sumptin does something sort of similar. It doesn't use a heffe yeast (not sure if the Deschutes collaboration will either), but it does combine a solid wheat base, with big hop forwardness (especially the nose), and a 7.5% bite. That sounds reasonably close to the description for their WIPA: "Wheat and hops, two things we love. Introduce yourself to a wheat beer with a pumped up hop nose and flavor. No reason to add citrus here it’s brewed into the beer."
There's a Can You Brew It recipe: http://www.homebrewtalk.com/f12/can-you ... in-218399/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thanks Jason. That recipe is going to be one of my first after the next malt buy (didn't plan on wheat beers for this one!) I'll have to check out the Lagunitas

Re: White IPA!
Not to piss on anyone's parade but I'm just that sorta guy
.... comparing Witbier to Weizen or using the two beers interchangeably in a sentence is just wrong
Belgian style white beer (or Witbier) is nothing like Weizen (or Weissbier etc), hefe or otherwise - totally different yeasts, different malts and grains, different hops and the most significant difference - completely different flavour profiles. Little Sumpin' Sumpin' is basically an American IPA brewed with some wheat in it which lends a little tang. Just a guess but I expect this new brew will be considerably different coming from a famous Witbier brewer that's calling it a White IPA, it definitely won't be brewed with a weizen yeast
Just sayin'
