Re: Warning - Great Canadian Beer Expo
Wonder if the (legit) Mud Hero organizers have their hands in any lawsuit as well for Mud Immortal blatantly ripping off the Mud Hero logo?

Re: Warning - Great Canadian Beer Expo
PEILCC already pooh-poohed the notion of allowing competing beer festivals on PEI. Theirs is the only game in town. http://www.theguardian.pe.ca/News/Local ... -partner/1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I would hold off buying tickets for the Charlottetown dates of this event.

Re: Warning - Great Canadian Beer Expo
he would've brought in over $400k in registrations fees alone for that mud immortal, not to mention sponsorship/advertising revenue... maybe the Brewnosers should think about organizing a craft beer expo
This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

I don't think the folks who run the Saint John Beer Festival in the spring - which welcomes all craft breweries - would be too happy about this thing having two March dates

Re: Warning - Great Canadian Beer Expo
I did send something to CBC about it, but hard to say if they are interested. Maybe some of you facebook guys could look at the links set up for complaints about the last event and send a few messages. Might not be the same guy, but worth asking. Hate to see anybody get burned on tickets for an event that never happens, or turns out to be a disaster.

Re: Warning - Great Canadian Beer Expo
The Expo Dates for the latter four locations are completely different now than they were when that PDF posted above.. Can see the updated version here https://www.facebook.com/GreatCanadianBeerExpo" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
So he must have created that earlier PDF before actually securing the venue bookings..
Leads me to wonder whether all the venues are even booked by now ? And yet he's still selling tickets..
The Charlottetown date has already moved from Feb 7/8th (a date when there's a concurrent hockey game in the arena alongside the trade centre..) to May..
If this Jonathan Brett guy is the only name attached to this thing, this is a potential disaster or at the very least a huge waste of money to attend a poorly run overcrowded event.
Not surprisingly, there is no mention of the GCBE on the Charlottetown Eastlink Centre site, or their fb page..
Somebody definitely needs to look very very closely at this event and get the media involved
Jonathan Brett is seen here in Newfoundland earlier this year:

Try the media in St. John's, NFLD ! They had a field day with the Mud Immortal debacle as somebody posted above.mr x wrote:I did send something to CBC about it, but hard to say if they are interested. They are essentially the North Haverbrook of this story, having experienced one of Brett's events before. Doesn't matter that there's no GCBE event planned for St. John's, I think they'd love to cover his current whereabouts and plots..

FWIW, a CBC reporter from NFLD replied to my email, and was very happy to have the info.

I hope for everyone's sake, it's the same guy.
That didn't come out right... I hope we're not demonizing some guy who has the misfortune of having the same name.

Re: Warning - Great Canadian Beer Expo
lol, I was thinking the same thing, but I have a very good suspicion it is the same guy. Look at the web design for both events. They appear very similar to me, which makes me suspicious that the same person used them. Plus the exact same name. And the apparently similar frightening planning...chalmers wrote:I hope for everyone's sake, it's the same guy.

I guess somebody could come straight out and ask him lol. I'll leave that to the pros.

I'll be sure to tell the guys to be careful with this one, but they are pretty cagey and usually not in for beer expo type events.

Re: Warning - Great Canadian Beer Expo
Both NFLD CBC reporters from the latest Mud Immortal print story responded. (they actually both signed up today, didn't think they had to do that to read this thread). They will be following this up, and will let us know if a story develops from the info.

Great detective work by the Brewnosers! Hopefully this issue hits the news before the first event takes place.

Re: Warning - Great Canadian Beer Expo
Was excited for it in the beginning, but there are way too many unknowns and variables for something taking place in the near future. I know I won't be attending this event and will be saving the $$$ for the next one.

Don't see a question on that link, Mr. X. What did he ask? Was it deleted?

Our local CBC news did a spot on tonights news on the event complete with a link to the event here this past summer and had interviews with personal from Garrisons.
Basically warning the public about this event.
Way to go guys. Shows the Brewnosers are on top of things.
