Travalling to Mt.katahdin and Penobscot River regions in Maine this weekend via the Saint John area and I'm hoping to find some good brews to bring back with me. I may be heading into Bangor on the way back.

Any suggesions as to where I can find some on that route? I would love to find some Dogfish Head and Maine Brewing Co. but I'll take anything that is good.

Google Maine Beer Trail for breweries.

Burby & Bates in Orono is one of the best stores that I have been to in Maine. I was there for a conference and was pleasantly surprised that it was better than any place in Bangor.

It might sound strange, but there is a Deli place pretty close to the Mall in Bangor that has great beer selection. It is called Hogan Road Deli, and is located at 421 Hogan Road.

When I stopped in 2 weeks ago they had Allagash, Atlantic Brewing Co, Bar Harbour Brewing, Belfast Bay Brewing, Geary's, Sea Dog, Sebago, and Gritty's from Maine, and decent selection from some of the big cool microbreweries in the states, Dogfish head, Stone, Rogue, Magic Hat, Sierra Nevada.

Here is their website

^ Sweet, thanks Jon. I'll definitely keep this place in mind next time I'm in Bangor!

+1 to Hogan Road Deli. You'll be shocked at their selection.

Be sure to visit Marshall Wharf/3Tides (http://www.3tides.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) in Belfast. Great folks and good beer.

Not the most up-to-date (it relies on user-submissions), but I like to use Beermapping for these sorts of things (if it's not in an area covered by the Brewnoser Good Beer Map): http://beermapping.com/maps/proxymaps.p ... =7421&d=50" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I second that.

I certainly haven't gone to every brewery in Maine, but so far 3 Tides is my favourite. If you're in Bangor, don't bother with Geaghan's. Seadog is a bit better but not worth going out of your way.

Made it to Hogan's. Wow, drove by it twice until I noticed it was attached to a Citgo station, :lol: . Grabbed 7 flavours of Dogfish head and 35 bottles in all 32 which will be first timers for me. Aquired a good mix of New England locals, West Coast goodies and even an Japanese Espressio Stout :spilly: . Thanks again for the input.

Yeah, it is a very strange spot, didn't believe that was the place at first, but their selection is staggering :mmm:

I've had a few conversations with the owner via Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Hogan-Ro ... 1527475716" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). Great guy. You can check with him on current availability/pricing (you have to give him a list of what you're looking for). He's also willing to put a box of beer aside if you ever have people driving through Bangor that you can convince to stop by and pick stuff up.

The best store in the Bangor area has already been listed, Hogan Road Deli at the Citgo Station. It's very convenient for that last stop before heading home. If you're in Portland, RSVP Liquor is the best in Maine/NH. If you're in Ellsworth, Global Beverages is the second best.
