Dear Keiths
Dear Keiths,
your one hop series is an insult to beer and a waste of perfectly good ingredients. The only reason I'm going to finish it is because I paid perfectly good money for it. I would rather gargle a monkey shart. I think that's it... no wait, your mother's fat!
Sincerely,
Me

Re: Dear Keiths
I had the cascade on tap and liked it.
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

I was going to try it at the H&T Tuesday but I figured Nash would beat me.

Yes he will. I have scars from saying it wasn't awful, hahahahahaaaaaa.

At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter.

Re: Dear Keiths
They weren't horrible. Thin, I thought, but at least you could tell the difference between them, and they had some moderate bitterness. I didn't notice any of the standard Keith's taste either. I assuem they were made differently, separate brews, not "doctored" beers.

Re: Dear Keiths
I noticed the same Keith's taste in the Hallertau version, albeit not as prominently as normal. Definitely agree with thin.brufrog wrote:They weren't horrible. Re: Dear Keiths
I still have one of each as I'm doing a story for TAPS on big breweries making "craft" beers. Pros and cons. I will also mention the "One Hop" beer trend. If it is a trend...
As always, i'll scan Brewnosers threads to help formulate two sides of the story

Hey zeus, I hope it is no trend. I'm just starting to get an addiction to IPA's.... and of course extra malty beers as well.NASH wrote:

I haven't tried one of the Keith's yet, but am looking forward to it all the same.

Re: Dear Keiths
I agree, actually. It is kind of like labelling wines by the grape. White Burgundy was always Chardonnay before they started putting it on the label, and many beers have always been made with one hop variety. I guess it is good that average consumers are thinking about how different hops can smell/taste differently, which is one thing the 2 Keith's beers I've tried do show, albeit not in as glorious a way it can be shown.NASH wrote:Like IPAs in general, it's no trend.brufrog wrote:I still have one of each as I'm doing a story for TAPS on big breweries making "craft" beers.
