At our first monthly meeting of N.E.W.F. at the Yellowbelly last Wed. night I had the pleasure of having a Mummers Brew
seasonal, Chocolate Porter was absolutly devine. Too bad I was the DD.

Awesome! Hopefully some of the guys would be willing to have another pint with me this Wednesday.

Talk to Jimmy: if they're interested in a sub-forum, I'm sure that can be arranged.

It sure can. Tony, just let me know if it would be useful and I will gladly add it.

Thanks guys, I'll mention it, but most of the guys aren't forum guys.
And we are on Google +
You know most of them anyway, Chris.

Chris, I sent your notice to me to most of the other guys, like Pete and Dwayne.

Cheers

This was Yellow Belly's Mummer's Brew? A Brewnoser from years ago once blogged that Quidi Vidi's Mummer's Brew was one of the most wretched beers he's ever had. Never had the "pleasure" myself, but I can vouch that QV's Kriek was pretty awful.

It would have been Yellowbelly's.
QV Kriek, eh? Seeing how badly they screw up standard North American beer, I can only imagine what sort of trainwreck this would be!

MMMMMMMMMMM Yellow Belly. Last month I had a friend from the rock bring me a Ginger fiesty Red from Yellow Belly that was tasty. I've only been to Yellow Belly once but the beer and food were great. Mummers Brew sounds very interesting.

I thought the mummer's brew was interesting, but too sweet for my tastes. it was a christmas style ale, a bit of chocolate and spices added i believe. definitely worth a try nonetheless. taste buds were a little burnt out, as i had it after about 2 dozen spicy wings

Yeah, the Mummers Brew I had was from the YB. I agree with Liam, it was a little sweet, but I loved it all the same.

Many years ago the Co. I work for installed the HLT for the brewery when they first started. We all got a Doz. QV Mummer Brew given us by the brewery.
Couldn't choke it down and gave it away to friends who would drink anything. I was wrong... they would drink anything... anything but QV Mummers Brew
Didn't know they had a Kriek.. I thought it was a Partridgeberry beer... just as bad IMO.
I can handle their 1892 and their Honey Brown, but most of the rest is blah.

Ohhh, fond memories of Yellowbelly from this fall. Was in St. John's for work and spent two evenings there enjoying some good food and even better beer. I sampled all four brews they had on tap....while not being a big fan of reds or wheat beers in general, I thoroughly enjoyed both from the brewpub. I thought the hoppy Pale Ale and St. John's Stout were both wonderful. Wish we had a place like that in Moncton, I love the Pump House but their food is nothing to write home about.

I've never had the mummers brew, but I love YB's Fighting Irish Red and Whexford Wheat. I'd be interested in joining NEWF!

Except for this months meeting, which is at 7 PM on the 9th in the underbelly of the Yellowbelly Brewery, all our meetings will be the first Wednesday of the month at 7 PM at the YB.
I might not be able to make it as I'm on call that night. That is, unless I'm not busy and can get someone to cover for me.

Might not be able to make it to all meeting working away from home but I'll try to line some up! I think it's awesome to be able to meet at the YB for this!
