Just read and article on all nova scotia about them. Seems they are waiting for an inspection sticker from Ontario before they can start brewing. Once this inspection sticker is recieved it will be about 6 weeks before they start selling. Other details include:

3 Beers: Farmhouse Style, Abbey Style, and a Belgian Blonde which will be featured at Brooklyn warehouse.
System : 4.7 Hectolitre
Location: 2576 Agricola Street
Selling: 750ml ceramic growlers and 660ml bottles

Bring on the Belgians :cheers3:

This is excellent news. We have been sorely missing some good local Belgian styles in these parts. I, for one, am hoping that they will eventually feel adventurous enough for a Lambic or a Flanders Red. I find the lack of sours around here most distressing.

What kind of inspection would they need from Ontario?
I'm confused by this line. As NSLC does the final inspection.

Must have needed the special CSA inspection on a piece of gear ... surprised that the inspector needed to come in from away.

There are no local inspectors, when you need something CSA Approved you pay them pretty big bucks to fly in and do it, or you can wait a month or three until they happen to be in your area anyways :cheers2:

For electrical gear, Dept. of Labour allows special inspections by CSA or QPS/Entela (rep is in Fall River) ... http://www.gov.ns.ca/lae/electricalsafety/esb0304.asp

Awesome. For brewing gear I've had done we had to pay to fly them in from Montreal or TO :cheers2:

I believe that tidbit of info earns Mr. LeafMan the RB hoptoberfest prize.

If they are using an oil-fired boiler converted to burn natural gas that'll need a CSA field certification.

I'm sure there's a CSA guy in Moncton, as I had to assist him in approving one of our machines last year.

Back on topic: I find the lack of foresight on Bridge's part a little unsettling ("Oh, I need CSA approval before I can legally use this piece of equipment?"). Should really figure that shit out before making grand announcements and ETA promises.
Hopefully the beer doesn't reflect that lack of forward thinking.
Speaking of which, has anyone tasted his beer yet?

I'm sure there are inspectors in pretty much every city, but not for gas fired brew kettles. Why? I have no fucking idea but likely because they are custom installations. I've been through it twice and nobody local has authority to put a sticker on one

Gotcha.
My original point still stands: figure this out before making release date promises.

Townhouse in Antigonish did the same thing.

Bursting the bubble of hype with delays is such a bad move for PR. I can see getting excited about launching your own beer, but IMO it's best to stay mum until you know for sure. I probably would have made a special trip to either one of these guys for the release day party, but now Townhouse has totally slipped off my radar and Bridge might do the same. I've lost track when wither plan on having their own beer out.

A good basic brewing episode back in the spring/summer covered a little brew-pub that opened up in the states out of a old mechanics shop. Because of the hardship in predicting exactly when they were going to have beer, they opened as a local watering hole serving good local beers. No one even knew they were going to have a brewery, except close friends. To me that makes far more sense, build the hype, don't disappoint and shoot yourself in the foot before you are out of the gate.

At least these guys have opened and are serving food and other brewers' beer.

I totally agree with above mentioned PR methods, You only get one First Impression. Hype is good, but it should be followed by substance. Starting up is a major uphill battle with red tape and hidden costs et cetera. Lots of people want a Micro, and have labels and shirts and ideas. But being able to sell it is another thing altogether.
Just my opinion as I try to become licensed in the future.
