fresh hops

Post by jabbrro » Sun Sep 06, 2020 10:04 am

My hop vines are ready to harvest soon. Was wondering if I can just pick them and vacuum seal right away and into the freezer. I will be doing a brew tomorrow and picking and putting right into the brew. Any tips would be appreciated as I this is my first time with fresh hops and how to store them as well.

you should dry them before you vacuum seal. I dry mine in y greenhouse Takes a couple days. As for picking and putting right in your beer, your weight of fresh hops is 4 to 5 times more than dry hops so you need to add more to get the same punch as dry hops. I put my dry hops in bags and squeeze the air out and freeze them until I am ready for them.
