Interesting. Kolsch yeasts are, of course, not particularly flocculant, but my kolsch dropped super clear all on its own in just a couple of weeks. Helles too. Bright beer has never been a problem for me. Now if I could just solve fermentation...

Stopped in to La Torta Pizzeria today. Lots of NS craft beer on tap...they had Unfiltered, Bad Apple, a Mead (I forget who the meadery was), Big Spruce, Boxing Rock, Good Robot and more.

And first time trying Wayfarer's. Not much flavour, very macro-ish.

How was La Torta? I'd like to stop in sometime but find it hard to skip Paddy's. Only meadery I know of is Midgard Meadery in Cape Breton. Some of the wineries might offer a mead though. Now that I think about it, Planters Ridge offers a mead if I'm not mistaken.

I think my standards for "clear" are what BJCP standards would call "brilliant" clarity - I want to be able to read text on a page through my pint glass... And when I use gelatin and a cold crash I usually get that easily.

La Torta was pretty good.

Pies were decent, not as good as Piatto, but still pretty good.

They have a small patio on the side of the building - I'd suggest sitting there if you go. It was 30° out when we went, and it was cooler outside than it was inside.

I've been to Vankleek Hill on a couple of occasions. What on earth are you going to do in VKH for 4 days?! Other than drink copious quantities of Beau's, I mean.

Also did you ask the gang at Beau's about when GuingesRock is coming up for his brewday? :spilly:

My sister in law lives here with her man, this is my 2nd time here.
We arrived this afternoon so I haven't been there yet, but their neighbor works there and I was going to ask about G-Rock (I think I remember late summer/early fall mentioned).

Update: mumble, Keith, CA, Bucc, KB, D+J, I got you covered.

Once it goes live, it'll be on the Quebec spreadsheet, along with some other bottles in the Surplus drawer.

I'm at Beau's 10th anniversary party at the brewery, enjoying Gigantic IPA! They know how to throw a party!

Also, spoke to a couple of the guys, G-Rock is here sometime in August

Cyser that I made in the fall. Spiced with cinnamon and vanilla. Thought it would be good cold but it wasn't. As its warming the apple and honey is coming out nicely. Pretty tasty.

My first crack at a Helles. Pooched the fermentation, but that's been my struggle lately. Still tasting okey dokey, though.

Keith's Cornerstone "EPA"... Top 5 worst beers I've ever tasted.
Nova Prime Taproom
Tap 1: Festa Brew Scotch Ale
Tap 2:
"Fill with mingled cream and amber,
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chamber of my brain -
Quaintest thoughts - queerist fancies
Come to life and fade away;
What care I how time advances?
I am drinking ale today." ~ Poe

I picked up a couple growlers from bad apple while I was in the valley earlier this week.

The APA was great, the box cutter IPA was also great but not really my style (I prefer IPAs to have low/no pine-y character)

Blake and I had a triskaidekaphobia from Big Spruce. Gusher, with a fusel/medicine taste. Not good for such an expensive beer.
