Having my very first batch of brown ale that I created with brown malt and victory I pilfered from Andy's shed on a very cold day. I need a suitable long and unwieldy name. I'm going with "Frozen Grouse Sweet Biscuit Brown". Ooh yeah. :chug:

I'm drinking a pint or two of a Helles I made in Oct/12 that has lagered nicely. Nursing it along... still suffering from an over abundance of HB last night.
Might be a long night.

Rodenbach Grand Cru
hoegaarden grand cru
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

My friend grabbed me a bottle of Bridge farmhouse yesterday while I was at work. I just got a pork burger from Ace Burger down the street. They work pretty good together. I also picked up some Hop Yards to have a few while I brew up a pale ale tonight as it's been a while since I've had some.

I was back in Ontario for Christmas and finally got my hands on Mad Tom, and absolutely loved it. So of course I had to try the Twice as Mad. Yeah, ok, but ... I'll stick to the Once as Mad...

I'm hearing a lot of good things about that one. I'm going to have to get my B-I-L to send me some.

Yup, Mad Tom is a great IPA, so I was a bit disappointed with Twice as mad :)

As for right now I am finishing my last can of Muskoka Dark Ale, pretty good, although I am not a big fan of english style brown ales

Ah. So not so much "pilfered", but "hey, this grain's a steal!"

Be very wary if he starts offering you hops...

My first taste of my Belgian wheat ale with gooseberries

A bit too sour at the moment, will probably use 1 kg next time (used 2.5 kg), but I am very happy with how the Belgian abbey yeast and the sour fruitiness of the gooseberries compliment each other

That may back off after a while. My pomegranate wheat took a couple months to mellow out.

Yeah, I hope so, it is pretty good as is, but would be more balanced with less sourness.

How did you add the pomegranate and how much did you use?

Homebrew Abbey Dubbel that is about done. Had one already and thinking it might be a wee bit too high ABV. (forgot to measure before bottling).

SAAZ RIS, somehow we ended up with an extra 60+ liters after our contribution to the barrel, so we fermented the rest with T58 and San Diego Super yeast.

I'm drinking the T-58 one. Wasn't a fan at fist, but 6 months later, I'm enjoying this one.

edit: err, at first - powerful stuff :mmm:
