You just have a false bottom in your rig?

No false bottom just a custom manifold.

Gotcha. No worries of scorching the grains on the bottom?

Don't do step mashes. I heat the mash water to temp, keep the Burner running during mash in. Then kill heat and stir til I reach mash temp. Normally instantly.

Hop Flash 2 at the St John Ale House. Bit malt forward than I prefer. However the glass hit my lips twice and is half gone!

Picked up four growlers of Sam Adams test batches from the brewery tour today. I must say they have been great. This is a Lychee Pale Ale. Image

Having a Jack the SIPA at Stillwell. Great beer to clear away the taste of the work week. Tip of the hat to the Brathair boys.

drinking a pint of old cardinal from granite. Interesting, certainly no major off flavors, but I don't know if I'd buy a full growler of it again. Not exactly what I was expecting from something purported to be a belgian dubbel - it's quite sweet, lightly "woody" almost? loads of fruit esters, no real phenolics or other more "belgian" character. I think they may make this with the same ringwood yeast they use for their english stuff but just push the ferm temp to get more esters?

My Hop Assault IIPA from the first advent. This is Version 2.0 with Columbus, Simcoe and Amarillo. I scaled it down to a 7.0% IPA. Pretty damn happy with this.

Your always welcome here Keith. I'm close to the highway. I think you would like it. A bitter one but balanced. Tired Amarillo this time around for the citrus hops. :headbang: :cheers2:

Drinking a White Noize IPA from up street that I picked up at Bishop's Cellar on Friday. That's a lovely white IPA. Plenty of hops, no distracting bubblegum (that some white IPAs have depending on yeast). Hogie and his boys have made a fine beer with this one. Also looking forward to trying the Rhuby Social later tonight.

Drinking the Nine Locks IPA. It's well made, descent beer. But missing that juiciness a bit late hop addition would bring.
