I had similar results with a canned kit. Took 3 months for the off flavor to fix itself.

ah well, just means I'll have to make more to hold me over while this sits in the "bank"

Kegging the weizen this weekend, that's generally a style meant to be drank pretty "Green" right? It could be drinkable by the middle of next week.

Might do a couple one gallon batches until I get a burner to fire up your old kettle keith :P

Fire it on the stove and do a 3 gallon batch. The stove burner should be able to handle that.

Had a couple of Unfiltered DIPA last night with the brewer himself on his birthday. Happy birthday prick face....

Anyone have a particular recommendation from north brewing? They're super close to me and also sell a convenient 750 mill refillable flip top size so I was planning on giving them a shot today. Just can't decide what style!

Cant help with the North Brewing suggestion as I've not tried many of their beers. I'd go to Unfiltered (just around the corner) and get a 1L of DIPA if it was me :D

I had one here in Wolfville that was quite good. I can't remember what it was called though. You should maybe get some tasters.

I do really like unfiltered. Probably my favourite overall (really like both the daytimer and the hop riot) but I feel like I have to try everywhere. Wound up with a saison from north brewing that was really quite crisp and refreshing.

The new pizza place? Saison on there I believe. Glad you enjoyed it.

I did, but the owner guy raved about it. He was talking to me wildly about his travels around the world, and experiences with beer, and had to have a drink. He was trying to be the important guy, with huge responsibilities, and wanted to let go for a second, and in a moment of weakness, asked the bar tender to grab him just "half a glass" of that stuff. He pointed to my glass to show the bar tender where the half way mark was. He's a bit of a maniac, but it must be hard getting a business going. I think he might burn out, but the place seems always packed. I felt sorry for him. Someone had him by the balls, maybe he had himself by the balls ....it's like that when you are getting a business going. I was glad to see he had 2 seconds of relaxation to enjoy half a drink of your beer. It fixed him up. The chef was more relaxed, he saw Kathleen and gave her a huge hug (he knew her from way back). I thought he was going to drag her back into the kitchen and have his way with her for a second. The bar tender was Awesome, fresh out of college but knew all about beer/food parings etc. and dead keen to hear what I had to say. Also he wasn't trying (at least overtly) to screw my wife ...which is always a bonus.

Drinking the new Unfiltered SMaSH DIPA now at the Primal Kitchen with Nash and Mr. X, it's wicked good.

We recently have had Authentic Seacoast beers here in NB, and despite my previous encounters (which weren't positive), I purchased a bottle of Full Steam Stout tonight. Having it now, and holy crap this beer is severely infected. Such an intense sourness it's crazy. It ended up being dumped after a couple of sips. I don't proclaim to brew the world's best beers, but I can't imagine tasting this beer as a brewer and then sending it out to customers for purchase. :(

I drank at a party last night a 750ml flip top of homebrew weizen (which lost a bit of carbonation from my macgyvered snapped racking cane growler filler and me not knowing how to adjust pressure to reduce foaming) and an absolutely TERRIBLE can of "london porter" from the NSLC... Can't recall the brand. Fullers maybe?

Grabbed one of the last snarls of Daytimer from Unfiltered today to go with my growler of All Falc'd Up. Trying it with a little Creme de Cassis per Bluenoser's recommendation to give it a little syrup.

Surprisingly the mosaic hops and the currant flavors get along really really well. I will definitely experiment further with this idea next summer.

You added the syrup to the daytimer and not the all falc'd up correct?

Yessir. And I liked it enough that I did it more than once.

Found this one at the NLC and was pleasantly surprised. The mosaic comes through quite strong and it is a decent beer.

Ditto. My mother bought one last week as well. According to her it was flat, nasty and helped to seed the septic tank. "That's not what a stout is supposed to taste like"

I'm currently drinking an oak aged beer from Innis & gunn as part of a pack of 6 random beers I hadn't tried before I got at NSLC. Really interesting flavor. Anyone else have any recommendations for oaked beer?
