Un-filtered red. Best yet. I loved the DOA but fresh is awesome.

Finally dropped in at North to grab their wet hopped beers. Already sold out of this year's Many Hands. Trying out their "Setting Sun" wet hopped saison aged on sour cherries.

Deception Bay IPA from Tata Brew. They hit a home run with this beer.

Doctor Brew Cascade IPA in Kraków from a corner Alkohole (liquor store). Brewed in Wrocław, Poland.
Pretty good job on an America IPA showcasing Cascade very well with support from some crystal malts, so a touch of sweet but not in the way of the hops. 56 IBUs, 5.6% ABV.

Re: What's everyone drinking tonight?
Having a flight of NB beers seeing as I'm in Fredericton for the week.
From trailway im having the session ipa and the Raspberry Wheat
From Hammond River I'm trying the blueberry
And from railcar I'm supposedly having the train wreck dipa, must have poured me something else by mistake though as I've had hoppier pilsners
All the beers are great though

I don't want to be negative nancy, but I've had some not-great Railcar beers, so it probably is the correct keg. Were you at the James Joyce? Be sure to let the bartender know, and/or make a note of it on untappd (if you're a member).mthibodeau wrote:Having a flight of NB beers seeing as I'm in Fredericton for the week.

Glad the others were winners, though! If you see Hammond River's Harvest, be sure to get it. And TW's D'under.

I was at James Joyce, good food and good beer. As for TW and Hammond River the beers I had were all that were on tap for both. Going to hit up the Ale house later this week and see what they have on tap this time

Not to pile on, but I've had some pretty bad experiences with Railcar as well. Picked up their session IPA this summer and it didn't even taste like beer. Something is wrong with their system over there.I don't want to be negative nancy, but I've had some not-great Railcar beers, so it probably is the correct keg. Were you at the James Joyce? 540 on Queen St has a dozen taps, 3/4 of which will be local stuff, and may have the other beers I mentioned.
And of course, the selection at JJ will have changed in a couple of days. Look out for Celtic Knot from Riverview, brewed by one of our members, Araxi. I believe his Black IPA, Dubh Loki, is out now. Oh, and Big Axe is also worth trying.

Re: What's everyone drinking tonight?
I've had some Bulgarian wine tonight, very good price (8.70 cad) and quite good actually. I've not seen Bulgarian wines at home in NS. They are a good value here in Poland. As a comparison, it's roughly the same price as a Jacobs Creek Res Cab here, which is around $20 cad in NS, but the Bulgarian was a much better quality wine in my opinion.

Re: What's everyone drinking tonight?
picture of the interesting beers i've had lately:
- the sapporo "white belg" is a happoshu (lower amount of barley, taxed less - it was mediocre).
- Aooni is a solid IPA. Nothing mindblowing, but it's awesome that i can get a pretty decent IPA in the grocery store.
- the two Suntory are quite nice too (Special Bitter is like an APA; the brown is a nice ale, not quite a brown tho)
- the tall brown can is "suntory The Malt's umami-flavor 100% beer". It was a lager with more body than average, actually quite nice. Didn't know what to expect with a beer labelled "umami".
- The yona yona ale was fine, kind of an american amber.
- The blue can is Abashiri Okhotsk Blue Draft, it was pretty awful.
The bottom row i picked up in a shop 1h45 drive (90km) away. They were an awesome group of imports. I've since been back, and got a 375 of Cantillon Rose de Gambrinus - $12 which is a bit steep, but it'll be a nice treat.

So cool that you can get stuff from Commons over there. Highly recommend "Myrtle" if you spot it!

Re: What's everyone drinking tonight?
Thanks for the tip Chris! That one I got in Sapporo, there are two places that have rotating taps and also sell bottles - and almost all their beer is American. Pretty awesome. One is called "Beer Inn" the other is called "Beer cellar"

Re: What's everyone drinking tonight?

Great beer overall. Nice crispness to the beer. Saison isn't super funky which I prefer. Malt is there and backed by a clean bitterness. Really well made, especially for it being his 3rd batch.
Thanks again. Pop out anytime for a pint. Cheers!

Trying out one of Picaroons Harvest Ales (Nugget) that Marc brought back for me from NB
. Pretty tasty to end the week!

Re: What's everyone drinking tonight?
Just tried my first homebrew!
Tastes way too strongly of what I think is a green apple flavor (aka Acetaldehyde). So unless the problem is acetic acid bacteria and I'm mixing up "apple flavor" with "cider flavor" it should sort itself out in another month in bottles and I should just forget about this batch for a bit. It's not super carbonated either so a decent amount of the taste issues might be that there's still a bunch of corn sugar in the bottles that hasn't been eaten yet (it's been bottle conditioning for about 11 days now, figured I'd try one)
