That sounds right! Thanks HBC!

Now I've moved on to 8 month Bengali IPA from Sixpoint in NYC. Aroma is still great, tho different from fresh.

I finally tried the Garrison mango/cider/too many hops beer and Adam's schwartzbier. I liked them both. I was quite worried about the former after Daniel's ginger firken that took me days to get rid of the ginger taste in my mouth. This amount worked and the mango gave it just enough sweetness to offset the hop absurdity.

tap water tastes so bad, and the liquor stores are close, I resorted to drinking a bud light someone left in the fridge. I am an embarrassment to myself and to the club

1 Gallon homebrew batches, get on that! John G. has plenty of experience doing those (or at least setting up a buddy to do them).

Or bribe TonyL for some bottles of his. Tell him you'll lager them for him. :)

Just pulled the first pint of my Stone Levitation clone. Needs a bit more time before it's at it's prime.

I think you'd find more than some dis-agreement there. It's hit and miss a the Spitfire Arms, and most people I know have stopped buying it at Bishop's altogether.

I will always have a pint of it at the Port Pub, however it's a bit of a drive. It was sold out when I was there Tuesday, unfortunately. Took home a growler, hopefully it's good.

It's on tap at the Spitfire Arms, but had a diacetyl issue last trip. Not quite at dumping level, but too much for me to have another.

Looking good! I like that glass too, very cool.
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Drank one of HBC's Red Ale (yellow dot on a grolsch), very tasty. Then a 6-month old Stone Pale Ale. HNC's won the evening. Also cleaned out my kegerator lines, and whipped up my first attempt at Sodastream Coke in the kegerator. We'll see how it is in a day. If this works, next experiment will be Rye and Ginger on tap.

The growler of Blue Heron Jeff gave me was fantastic. Then again, I like a little Diacetyl in my English and Scottish style ales. It is part of the taste profile. I just got back from drinking a gazillion cask ales in Scotland, and I imagine a lot had some D. But everything was very good. Some great.

I don't consider it a defect at the levels of what I've had from Sea Level or Picaroons. Always have enjoyed them (except for those periods when they were having other, worse issues - phenolic or sour, wild yeast/bacterial stuff, but only with the bottles). I know Jeff often whinged about D-levels in Granite's Stout, but it never bothered me. I'm not saying it is my favourite stout, but I still enjoy it.

I think some people are much more sensitive to D, kind of like Brett, VA or sulfur in wine. Some people don't even notice those until they get to quite high levels. It seems to me that some American craft beer people think Dl is a dirty word, but they didn't invent beer! Hmmm. I think I have a good topic for a future editorial!

Sea level has quality control issues across the board afaiac. And I quite like granite stout, in fact, that's my favorite of theirs, although it's a bit weak as a stout, but it makes for a nice change.
