I use the NG grain bags for hop bags. They do allow a small portion of the powdery hops through but work fairly well. I also find that they "balloon" open during the boil and while adding more hops. I like the fact that you can give them a gentle stir in the hop spider.

Yes it is a spring from a spring cake pan. I was looking for a solid stainless steel hoop, I just stumbled onto this while parusing Valoo Velage'. It works fine but will keep my eyes open for a more solidly constructed ring.
