I had the "Saison" which was my first time... like and adventure for me... a novice taster... ginger and hops..wow.. and the "American Pale Ale" that's what the waiter described it as... put some hair on my chest... was awesome.
It is an APA, well, by GABF standards anyways, slightly out of range by BJCP standards, oh and of course any BJCP would say it's WAY too hoppy to be an APA :finger:

I brewed the APA for a competition in Denver so hopefully it does well, it's fermented with Nottingham yeast which is the challenge of the comp, best APA with that yeast which they say they'll be doing DNA testing on to be sure. Glad you enjoyed the brews and thanks! :cheers2:

Was there a special event there last Saturday night? We headed down but were given a simple 'we're full' (not even a "there's a half hour wait" or anything like that) at the door. Sounds like things might be going well down there, at least.

Were you turned away just for beer? I just walk past if I'm going for drinks.
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter. :wtf:

Saturday night - It must have been 7:30 or 8:00. It just seemed strange. They told us there wasn't any room at the bar, either.

My girlfriend and I don't look that rough, and we're white (harhar), so I assume they were telling the truth :). Just seemed strange, to not even tell us how long the wait is. I can't imagine it takes very long for a spot for two to free up somewhere in the restaurant.... I've never seen it full like that before.

Ive seen it that full on a friday or saturday night. Ive also been turned down for drinks there at 11pm or so on a friday or saturday when theres still people in there eating or drinking. weve walked in and been told its last call when theres still a number of people in the place, and I would think they stay open til at least midnight.
But yes I agree with you, its strange that they wouldnt give you a wait time.
Serving:

-Double Chocolate Espresso Stout
Fermenting/Conditioning:

The place definitely gets full sometimes. It's only licensed for 162 people believe it or not, it's posted on the wall behind the bar as it is in all licensed establishments. The tiny Rockbottom brewpub is licensed for 164 people

The H&T doesn't stay open until midnight save for maybe 2 months in the heat of summer. The colder it gets the earlier they close, last Feb they closed at 8pm, last call at 7pm

Why they wouldn't give you a wait time is anyone's guess, maybe for the same reason they have lineups at the door when there's only 20 people in the place

Regardless, if you really want to know give them a call or an email. Or you could just keep bitching here I suppose

Haha, I don't really care - I was just wondering what was going on! I wasn't trying to bitch, it all worked out in the end. I was just curious, I had never seen it that full! I guess we usually go earlier, though.

Hopefully all those people drank a lot of beer so you'll have something new on tap soon!

Or just get to know some of the staff. Seems to me that Toni's the "power that be" in that establishment.

What's going on here. Either everyone stopped going to the Hart & Thistle, or they just stopped posting it. Is there still normally a "Friday meet" there?

I don't think there's many from here that have gone regularly on Fridays for a long long time. Of course I could be wrong since I don't hang there that much myself, cutting some beers out of the diet before I explode! Plus I have a new TDI that needs lots of attention to get broken in

Is anyone planning on going to the Hart and Thistle tomorrow? I would be up for an early pint around 4:30 if anyone was heading down.

Hmmm. Might be a good idea - we're at the Port of Wines showcase tomorrow aft, and there's nothing like a good beer after swilling 100 wines (we take our own spitters, and do spit, but you really need a beer after...) otoh, Marta's sick and unlikely to be willing to stop off for a beer
