Moncton Beer Questions.

Post by Keith » Fri Mar 21, 2014 4:26 pm

I'm heading to Moncton sometime within the next couple weeks with the family and taking them to Crystal Palace and staying over night. I have a few questions as I'm not entirely familiar with the area.

a) What breweries are in the area? I know of pump house off the top of my head, but other than that, what else am I missing.
b) Where can I try Shane's beer in Moncton? Any locals up for a pint pending the wife will let me venture off haha.
c) While I'm there does anyone want beer trucked back to HRM?

Thanks and :cheers2:

My beers currently aren't available in Moncton, however I'd certainly recommend checking out Bruce's (Celtic Knot Brewing) beers on tap at Tide & Boar or Marky's Laundromat. I'm not sure if Patrice has any Acadie Broue beer currently on tap at Marky's, but perhaps others in Moncton can confirm.

(a)The only brewery to visit is Pump House. There's a brewpub downtown on Orange Lane (just off Main, very close to Crystal Palace), or the Barnyard BBQ location is their packaging location (you can look onto the brewing floor from the restaurant).
I say only, unless Celtic Knot happens to be open for visitors when you're there.
(b) As Shane said, he's not there yet, but Tide & Boar and Marky's Laundromat are the two places to visit for beers while in town. No Acadie-Broue currently (still too cold in Patrice's Brew Shack), but I enjoyed some Celtic Knot @ T&B on Sunday.
(c) Not for me, as I've just been, but be sure to grab some Red Racer IPA for yourself (and maybe others), also Orval is a great Belgian beer, neither of which are available in NS. ANBL further along Main St from PumpHouse (left side of street, beside Sobeys at Vaughn Harvey) have both.

Is Orval available in NB? LCBO has stopped stocking it and I was thinking of getting a case for consumption over the next few years. I'll have to look into it.

Fermenting: black ipa
Conditioning:
Kegged: barrel barleywine from 2014 - i think i still have this somewhere

Shame I can't sample your beer while I'm up, always next trip! :cheers2:

Chris thanks for the input, this was what I was looking for. I've never had Orval or Red Racer. I'll be sure to grab some :) :cheers2: Thanks.

Are Troue du Diable beers available in NS? If not, they are here in NB now. There are four available, and Le Tracteur is my favourite of the bunch.

Hey, I trust you but info can get out of date quick. I'll have to pick some up my next time through. Its great for an affordable funky beer to age a bunch of.
