Big Spruce Spruce Beer

Post by spears104 » Wed Jul 10, 2013 8:49 pm

Hi everyone:

I got to spend the day at Big Spruce Brewing today with Jeremy and the guys helping out brewing their first spruce beer. Jeremy tried my spruce beer a couple of months ago and had this project on the go so we chatted quite a bit over the last couple of months about spruce beer. I also helped him get enough spruce tips to complete the batch. It was a real thrill for me as I have never brewed on a scale larger than home brew. The beer itself is a nice solid pale ale with just a hint of spruce. Its certainly not the spruce bomb I have made in the past, but it will definitely be palatable to the masses. I also got him to plug the club on the fb post today!

Cheers!

Jason

Very nice! It's always fun brewing on the bigger gear.
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter. :wtf:

Great Job, let us know how it turns out
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.
