NSLC Advisory Panel
I took the advice of a poster a few months back and signed up for this. Just got selected for a focus group on Weds. Catered and I get $125 NSLC credit for two hours "work"! Not too bad. Going to push the craft beer agenda as hard as I can. I few points I can think of that bother me:
1) Fridge space for imports (available at only a few stores). Increase it.
2) Greater selection of Canadian craft beers (why is it that BC govt. stores can have a whole wall of the stuff we like, but the NSLC can only have a handful of non-Maritimes craft brews? If Premier can bring in Dieu du Ciel, etc., at reasonable prices, surely the NSLC can do as well or better. (Premier works out well for us in the HRM, but having spent the last three years in Antigonish, I can attest that this isn't good enough!)
3) Clear import bottles = skunked. I have given up on bottled IPAs from the UK. Just too many bad experiences with skunked beer. Either shift towards cans, e.g., Fullers, or position them in a more isolated environment (or even refrigerate to slow reactions).
Those are my personal grievances.
Anything specific that you guys would like me to focus on in the focus group?
Jason

Lucky you!
I've been signed up to that list since it began (I have a friend in the NSLC who told me about it) and I haven't even had a survey (that I can recall)
More craft beers seems good to me.

I was also selected to be a part of this, need to check when I get home if I can still do that time. Certainly worth it to get out there though! Im also hoping to get out and push craft beer. In all the online surveys that has been my intent.

I signed up for the advisory panel too & have filled out a survey or 2. $125!!
I'd jump all over that and get me a premium bottle of single malt (or 2 decent bottles).
I am so jealous.

I am so jealous.

The as yet unearned money is already spent (in theory): Two low end single malts for me, and 12 Pumphouse SOBs for my girlfriend. (Aren't I generous!)

Re: NSLC Advisory Panel
Oh yeah, in my jealousy I forgot to post what I think they need to know. Having Colt 45 and Old Milwaukee on the 'Import' shelf is assinine. I don't mind paying the import prices (well, I do, but that's another argument), but at least stock something from the US worth drinking.

Hey Jason, what did ya think of that?
It sounded to me like the NSLC is starting to realize not everyone wants keiths and coors light forced down their throat

I hear I was there in spirit - or at least my online presence. Did any comments from this forum show up? It would have been awesome if the Rick Perkins thread was brought up.

How was it, Jason?
I just got invited to one for next Tuesday, which is, irony of ironies, our monthly BN meeting...
Which would you choose? It starts at 8pm. I might have to do both, show up late for BN. And I only got offered $100.
