Moondance German Lager

Post by ajcarp » Thu May 26, 2011 9:39 pm

Just back from Port Williams and a sunny afternoon on the a golf course in the valley.

Dropped by the Port Pub to get a beer after the round and indeed, Moondance Lager was now being tapped.

Here is a quick amateur review:

Appearance:
A beautiful clear golden color with just the slightest touch of orange (ok, maybe that was the  influence of the first sun we've seen in weeks).

Head:
Slight, tightly laced white head. Dissipated fairly quickly leaving little lacing on the glass.

Aroma:
Low, sweet malt with just a hint of spice (cinnamon).

Mouthfeel:
Light body. Just a little under carbonated, I mean it is the first day.

Flavor:
Good sweetness with a clean initial taste with little initial hop bitterness on tongue. The finish left a strong metallic bitterness on the roof of the mouth. Probably from the nobel hops but yet could also quickly turn butterscotch like.

Overall:
Well made and nice for a hot afternoon. For those that enjoy Euro Lagers, this will be a good beer. Get it while it is fresh. Not really my hop style, so we didn't leave with a growler.

Rating to Style - 7.5 of 10
Personal Enjoyment Rating - 6 of 10

Excellent review.
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter. :wtf:
