Not really intending to get political here, just something I'm curious about. Savage released his campaign donors today (see here) and this one struck me as odd:
Brewers Association of Canada - In kind - $210.00 - Ottawa, ON K1P 1A4
What exactly can the Industry Association donate "in kind" to a campaign? They don't actually produce the product, nor can the association sell it directly. No service is provided - unless they contributed some information or guidance for his stance on HRM having an "alcohol policy"? Can anyone enlighten me here?
Also good to see his commitment to local food producers by having Molson and Labatt provide the beer for his victory party. For that I'll admit getting political.

Interesting. Maybe money funneled from inbev via BAC...???
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter.

Why the roundabout route. What's wrong with InBev paying directly?mr x wrote:Interesting. Maybe money funneled from inbev via BAC...???

Wasn't cash though - specifies "In kind", which is product or services. I can't see how the Brewer's Association would be allowed to donate product - at least not actual beer, but maybe it was other swag - given NSLC's domain over distribution. Plus InBev (Labatt) is on there already as an in-kind donor.Graham.C wrote:Why the roundabout route. What's wrong with InBev paying directly?mr x wrote:Interesting. Re: Oddest Thing in Savage's Campaign Donations
Mike and I had a meeting one day before the election, I have to say that his office in total was worth way less than a thousand bucks. He has a simple table and a few office chairs with an old desk that had a coffee maker and a computer on it.
When we met, his wife was there watching their toddler play in the back of the room. She bad brought banana bread and offered us some.
He was very interested in the food truck movement and the amendments I am seeking. He agrees that they are reasonable.
He's no Richard Hurlburt from what I have seen...
