Beersmith Message

Post by naes100 » Fri Sep 02, 2016 3:30 pm

I just scaled a recipe from 5.25 gal to 10.5 gal and got the message below . . . not sure I understand it or what I should do. Any thoughts?

"If you scale this recipe without changing the equipment profile, your equipment losses will not be changed. You may want to adjust them after scaling. "

Oftentimes when you scale a recipe up you're making it on different equipment than it was originally designed for, either because the original recipe used someone else's equipment or because you have different equipment for different sized batches. Even with bigger batches on the same equipment, you might want to adjust for increased trub losses or reduced efficiency. So Beersmith is just warning you to look out for that sort of thing.
